The National Graphene Institute is a research institute and building at the University of Manchester that is focused on the
research of graphene.
Working in a project team that consisted of a senior designer, me as a junior designer, project manager and an information architect. We were briefed by the national graphene institution to create a web portal where members of the institute could track progression on their projects within the institute. Alongside this, we were also asked to create a mobile app for events that took place within the institute. The app consisted of a virtual pass for members to have access to the event and online training resources for members within the institute.
We started the brief with the mobile events app for the institute. For this project, I took on more of a UX role and assisted the senior designer with designing the UI. I started by planning out the proposed user journey and created wireframes for each of the screens on the journey. I then started designing the UI from the wireframes which the senior designer then improved on to give the final designs which we presented back to the client.
Working on the CRM System I had a bigger input to the design while still working alongside the senior designer. The system was designed to be used by members of the institute to be able to manage ongoing projects and share it with others within the institute.
